Generating Cities With Unity, Houdini & OpenStreetMap Data

Check out this cool approach proposed by Stina Flodström.

Stina Flodström has recently presented her latest experiment with Unity, Houdini, and OpenStreetMap data. The developer showed a procedural content creation pipeline that is based OpenStreetMap data imported into Unity using Houdini to build real-time environments. The procedurally-generated environments are based on real cities.

Everything you see was generated procedurally: buildings, roads, traffic lights, and other additional details. This workflow could be really useful for world-building in games and other large-scale projects.
