Gnomon's Course on Creating a Stylized Groom in Maya and XGen

The Gnomon Workshop has released a new course on Creating a Stylized Groom in Maya and XGen. The course was recorded by former MPC lead groom TD Bhavika Bajpai.

The tutorial is focused on creating a stylized groom using proxy tube geometry with XGen, Maya’s interactive grooming tool, to generate hairstyles quickly and efficiently.

This 3-hour workshop begins with analyzing photographic references and explains how to plan out the structure of a groom. It covers the basics of XGen in Maya using a sphere example to get you started. The artist explained the XGen interface in detail and showed how to create and move guides, how to set up clumps and cutoffs, plus talked about the basic XGen expressions.
