Last December, a game titled Grand Taking Ages VI appeared on the PlayStation Store and caused so much turbulence. I believe you’ve already frowned when reading the title of the game. Let’s leave the question of why VI appears in this obvious parody game aside; the preview screenshots, which look AI-generated, in the storefront were like lost siblings to Rockstar’s iconic images for the upcoming worldwide anticipated game.
Violarte
It’s not surprising to see Sony taking down the game for obvious reasons. However, Violarte, the development studio, probably similar to the protagonist in their simulator, doesn’t want to give up easily. In this game, you’re a game developer who will need to deal with the challenges of angry fans and ruthless journalists.
They’ve made some changes to the game, taking away that out-of-blue VI in the title “to clearly differentiate Grand Taking Ages from the original inspiration, GTA 6, and to emphasize its unique direction.” Besides, the team had some early communication with Valve to make sure the game could make its way to Steam.
“We approached Steam differently by engaging with their team about the concept of our game before officially submitting it. This allowed us to get their perspective early on, ensuring alignment with their guidelines,” a representative from the studio told IGN.
Although Sony has decided to remove this game, the developers will obviously have more attempts to return to the platform. They are confident that the new changes will help them shake off the “GTA 6 parody game” label.
“We genuinely believe that, with the recent updates, Grand Taking Ages is now ready to be relisted on the PlayStation Store... We strongly believe that there will be no issues with Sony this time,” Violarte said.
