Inspired by Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, FX Artist Jeonghyeok Song utilized free animation data and integrated it into a Houdini crowd. Here, every simulation follows the same setup, with Houdini's PDG system applying this setup to each wedge. Each wedge includes attributes like the target’s name and acting frame.
If you missed it, PDG (Procedural Dependency Graph) is a Houdini architecture designed to distribute tasks and manage dependencies for better scalability, automation, and analysis of content pipelines. It's versatile and used for tasks such as rendering multiple design variations to find the best one, parallel-processing geometry networks and dynamic simulations, machine learning, and much more.
