Guerilla Games Is Seeking Senior Character Animator

Here's your chance to join the team of the Horizon series creators to work on high-quality in-game animations that come in line with aesthetic and in-game requirements.

Guerilla Games, the studio behind the Horizon and Killzone video game franchises, is seeking Senior Character Animator "with a keen eye for quality" who has experience in creating animations for humanoids. This animator will join the team to create high-quality in-game animations that come in line with aesthetic as well as in-game requirements and work side-by-side with the company's game designers and programmers. As a Character Animator, you'll have to work on the animation of both NPCs and playing characters.

Responsibilities

  • Create stylized keyframe animations for real-time movement;
  • Help with the output of the internal animation team to maintain the high standard that has been set over the years at Guerrilla;
  • Create compelling, entertaining, and visually appealing gameplay animations for the player character and/or NPCs;
  • Create stylized handkeyed or motion captured animations that have a very strong foundation in realism;
  • Work closely and collaborate with Design, AI, Art direction, Animation Tech, and other departments to realize the vision of the team;
  • Mentor, train and inspire the animation team and help them grow and develop. 

Requirements 

  • Have at least 3+ years of industry experience working as an animator in the industry;
  • Demonstrate and excel at realistic keyframed animations of the human bipedal figure;
  • Be very comfortable with body mechanics coupled with a strong understanding of weight distribution and pacing/timing;
  • Have a strong knowledge of traditional animation principles and how to integrate them to enhance appeal and gameplay;
  • Have the ability to collaborate with the Animation Supervisor to ensure that the animations meet expectations of quality, consistency, and style;
  • Have a good knowledge and experience with setting up animation networks and blending trees;
  • Have a good understanding of additive, partial and layered animation systems;
  • Have clear and correct communication skills, strong problem-solving skills, and a willingness to support the team, leads, and production where needed;
  • Be growth-minded and motivated towards teaching, enabling, and coaching other animators;
  • Possess working knowledge of current animation techniques and Maya (MotionBuilder experience is a plus).

To join the Guerilla team, the applicants will have to pass a practical skills test and will be informed about the details of the test in due time.
