Guitar Hero Devs Create RedOctane Games, a New Rhythm Game Studio
The team is already working on a new title.
Meet RedOctane Games, a new studio formed by the developers behind legendary Guitar Hero and DJ Hero, joined by talented new creators and community leaders.
As shared in an announcement, the studio is focused "solely on advancing the rhythm game genre." RedOctane Games has been working on its debut rhythm-based game over the past few months and has now started the production stage. The title's announcement is expected to appear later in 2025.
RedOctane Games is directed by seasoned industry developers who worked on the classic Guitar Hero games, bringing insight and professional expertise to the studio's future work. The head is Simon Ebejer, who was the Production Director on several Guitar Hero titles, Studio Head at Vicarious Visions, and VP of Operations at Blizzard Entertainment, where he made a major contribution to the development of Diablo IV. Brothers Charles and Kai Huang, the founders of the Guitar Hero franchise, will join a special advisory board.
"Rhythm games are about more than just gameplay they're about feel, flow, and connection to the music and to each other," Simon Ebejer said. "RedOctane Games is our way of giving back to a genre that means so much to us, while pushing it forward in new and exciting directions."
