Have a Look at This UE5-Made Brick Wall With Hand-Painted Looks
The project was made by Romain Durand.
In case you missed the news, with the release of Unreal Engine 5.3, the latest stable version of Epic Games' flagship engine, the development team added tessellation and Displacement/Height Maps support for Nanite meshes, opening a new window of opportunity for Texturing Artists.
Romain Durand, a Principal Artist at Gravity Well, has recently experimented with the new functionality, showcasing an impressive brick wall with a hand-painted aesthetic set up in UE5 by using a base sculpt, baking it, and overpainting the Normal to achieve the desired looks. In the future, the author plans to share a breakdown of the project, so we highly encourage you to follow Romain on Twitter so as not to miss any upcoming updates.
Previously, the artist spoke to us about the development process behind Renegade Line, explaining how he created the incredible stylized assets for the game and discussing the team's approach to lighting. You can read the full interview here.
