Hazelight's Split Fiction Has Sold Four Million Copies
That's way faster than the studio's last GOTY title.
Split Fiction, Hazelight's fastest-selling title, has reached a new sales milestone. The studio announced that four million copies had been sold, and this achievement took only two months.
The co-op adventure was launched to overwhelmingly positive reviews on Steam, selling one million units in two days and two million in a week. This marks a significant leap compared to the studio's previous title, It Takes Two, which came out on March 26, 2021. It took a month to reach the one million milestone and around three months to sell two million copies.
With both games receiving the same high level of reviews from players and critics, and the fact that It Takes Two brought home the Game of the Year trophy, Split Fiction is heading boldly for this year's GOTY competition.
Meanwhile, it was reported that a film adaptation starring Sydney Sweeney is in the works. It will be directed by Jon M. Chu, who is known for directing the romantic comedy Crazy Rich Asians and the musical fantasy Wicked, and produced by Mike Goldberg and Story Kitchen.
Split Fiction is just one of the many ideas that Josef Fares and the team have in mind, and it translates very well to the audience. As exciting as the team is, they have moved on to devote themselves to the next project, although it is still in early development, and right now is not a great time to reveal any details about it. Based on their previous pace, a new game typically takes about three to four years to develop, so let's be patient as they create something that's almost guaranteed to be top-notch.
