Help Blender Get Vulkan Ready To Become Officially Supported Backend

Blender is looking for help from the community to test and provide feedback.

Blender has been working on integrating Vulkan support for a while, with its initial release in Blender 4.3 being considered experimental. At that stage, the focus was on achieving feature parity and stability rather than prioritizing performance improvements over the OpenGL renderer.

With the release of Blender 4.4, the Vulkan project saw significant improvements, although it remains in the experimental phase. The development team aims to make it production-ready this year and to achieve this, they are calling on the community for help with testing.

Vulkan is now reaching a point where it's being assessed for official backend status. Last month, efforts were focused on improving viewport performance to be on par with OpenGL. Vulkan is now also being used to render the user interface and EEVEE.

If you're interested in testing the Vulkan backend with the current Blender 4.5 alpha builds, the developers would appreciate feedback on stability, any features that aren't working, and any problematic platforms.
