Here's How You Can Set Up Realistic Dust in Substance 3D Painter

Adrien Roose shared a concise breakdown explaining how to create appealing digital dust.

If you want to push your 3D texturing skills to the next level and learn something new about Substance 3D Painter, here's a great new guide you definitely won't want to miss. Adrien Roose, a talented 3D Artist who specializes primarily in creating realistic weapon models, has recently shared a concise breakdown that takes you through the step-by-step process of creating effective dust in Painter and applying artificial shadows for added depth.

According to the artist, the technique outlined in the breakdown is quite advanced, requiring some experience with SP as it utilizes only one layer. "Of course, you can create two layers," Adrien explains, "but each texture setting would need manual adjustment. In my example, the shadow will be generated automatically for each mask." You can read the full breakdown by clicking this link.

Earlier, the creator also shared a similar breakdown detailing several methods to enhance the visibility of gun markings, showing how to apply a simple color dirt effect in cavities, and explaining how to add raised edges.
