Hideo Kojima Reveals More Details on the Upcoming Death Stranding 2 On the Beach

Real-time natural disasters, a new vessel for navigating locations, a new character that will assist you along the way, and more.

A few days ago, Kojima Productions released a video where renowned developer and Game Director Hideo Kojima talked about the upcoming game, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach.

Unveiled at Sony's Play of State 2024, the game is slated for release in 2025. As the game is still far from its launch, let's take a look at the recent details about Death Stranding 2 that Kojima shared.

First of all, the developer shared once again that the events of the sequel will not be set in "the American continent", leaving the regions that the main character Sam will visit still unknown.

Secondly, the key difference between the sequel and the first game is the introduction of real-time natural disasters. As Sam travels, he will encounter earthquakes, forest fires, and floods that dynamically change the terrain and destroy roads, so the players will have to alter their plans as well.

The Magellan ship that we saw in the trailers will serve as a mobile base for the main characters. Thanks to it, Sam will have the ability to freely navigate locations connected to the Chiral Network and even venture underground.

Fragile now leads an organization called Drawbridge, which aims to unite communities situated beyond the United Cities of America. She has evolved into a true leader and is no longer seen as a fragile person from the past.

The gloves worn by Fragile, known as the Second Hand, will serve to assist their owners in everyday tasks and will play a significant role in Death Stranding 2, as revealed by Kojima.

A sentient puppet, which is based on Fatih Akin's look, will accompany the protagonists on their journey, offering communication and guidance. The players will learn more about the new character's backstory as the story progresses.

In Death Stranding 2, the antagonist Higgs will display even greater levels of madness compared to the original game, and, well, he'll sing a lot.

The Game Director also talked about the upcoming OD and PHYSINT games, so if you're curious, check out the recent episode of Hideo's YouTube show HideoTube.
