Hollow Knight: Silksong Is Getting an Expansion Releasing in 2026
Sea of Sorrow will take Hornet on an aquatic adventure.
Team Cherry shared updates on Hollow Knight: Silksong, reflecting on the past year and offering a glimpse of what lies ahead for fans.
The developers revealed that over seven million players had already enjoyed Silksong, with even more experiencing the game through Xbox Game Pass. They described this as a "staggering number of players," far exceeding their original expectations.
The team also shared exciting news: Silksong is getting an expansion. The first new content, titled Sea of Sorrow, will be set "across and beneath the salt-stricken seas." While the teaser doesn't reveal many details yet, it confirms that Hornet will remain the protagonist. According to the developers, the expansion is planned for a free release in 2026. The developers also noted that they are continuing work on an updated version of Hollow Knight for the Nintendo Switch 2, which will incorporate updates and enhancements introduced with Silksong on the platform, including higher frame-rate modes, increased resolutions, and additional graphical effects. As with Silksong, players who already own a copy of Hollow Knight on Nintendo Switch will be able to download the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition for free when it launches in 2026.
