HTC Announced VR Headset VIVE XR Elite

The device provides "robust" graphics performance with a 90Hz refresh rate and 3840x1920 combined resolution.

HTC has announced its new standalone VR headset VIVE XR Elite. Marketed as convertible and compact, it offers a 90Hz refresh rate along with a 110-degree field of view and 1920*1920 pixels per eye.

XR Elite sports a Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2 processor with 12GB memory and 128GB storage. It features a detachable battery placed at the back, which provides up to 2 hours of continuous power.

HTC seems to have thought about comfort a lot and made sure you can adjust IPD (inter-pupillary distance) and diopters, so you can use the headset without wearing glasses.

XR Elite comes with embedded speakers, dual microphones for echo cancellation, four tracking cameras, a 16MP RGB camera, depth and proximity sensors, 6 DoF controllers, and two USB 3.2 Gen-1 Type-C ports. It supports Bluetooth 5.2 as well as Wi-Fi 6 and 6E.

The device weighs 625g with the battery and 240g without it. The company promises immense comfort and immersion.

VIVE XR Elite will be out in February, but you can pre-order it now for $1,099 and receive 5 games "valued at over $100".
