HTC announced a couple of new VR accessories: a consumer version of their face-tracker, plus a new version of the Vive Tracker with better battery life and smaller size. Prices are set at $130, each. The new devices will launch in the US starting on March 24th.
Perhaps the most important thing is the new Vive Facial Tracker, a face-tracking add-on for the Vive Pro headset. The device is powered by dual cameras running at 60Hz allowing users to track "38 facial movements across the lips, jaw, teeth, tongue, chin, and cheeks." There's also an IR illuminator to make the area around the user’s mouth well lit for the computer-vision tracking.
A new version of the Vive Tracker is also coming, which is said to be 33% smaller than its predecessor with 75% more battery life. Learn more here.
