Human Shader: First Mathematical Painting Computed by People
336 different people have already computed pixels by hand.
If you're into painting and math, check out Human Shader – the first mathematical painting computed by human brain power and not a machine. The project was created by Inigo Quilez, the developer of Quill, a VR painting tool. We have a whole list of those if you're interested.
336 different people have already contributed to Human Shader, computing pixels by hand. It's easy to join: you'll just need to claim a pixel on the canvas, follow instructions, calculate the RGB color values, and prove you did it by hand.
It all looks impossible, but a worksheet provided by the creator explains the actions pretty nicely. Just take your pixel's coordinates, divide, multiply, add, and subtract some numbers, take a photo of your calculations, and submit the resulting values.
Quilez has a YouTube channel where he paints whole pictures with math and explains how it all works, it looks fantastic, so visit him there.
