Implementing Hair Simulation Solver In Houdini 21 Using PBD

Hailey Ahn demonstrated her latest project.

Software Developer Hailey Ahn has presented a technical demo of her hair simulation solver in Houdini 21. The solver utilizes the Position-Based Dynamics simulation method and is inspired by the paper Fast Simulation of Inextensible Hair and Fur by Matthias Müller, Tae-Yong Kim, and Nuttapong Chentanez.

This simulation isn't intended to be physically accurate but is well-suited for VFX and animation purposes, providing artistic control while maintaining a realistic appearance. Hailey's video details the Follow The Leader technique, her development process, and the challenges she faced.
