Impressive Willys Jeep's Suspension System Blender Rig

Using a TurboSquid model as a foundation, 3D Artist BuyingZebra reconstructed most of its moving parts.

This very neat suspension system of a US Army Willys Jeep model was rigged by a 3D Artist BuyingZebra, who used a TurboSquid model provided by zolee_art as a foundation to reconstruct the moving parts.

BuyingZebra turned to Reddit in search of a solution to properly rig leaf springs and other users suggested plenty of different methods. It seems that creating a separate bone chain or bendy-bone chain is the best solution.

As the artist noted, separating the IK system and the bendy bone structure does allow you to replicate a rather realistic deformation in the spring. While it doesn't seem to maintain the length, they were able to maintain collision with the differential, and it probably won't get better than this.
