Insider Revealed Remakes Of Persona 1 And 2 Are On Their Way

The popular Persona series is set to welcome two more updated versions of its games.

Classic role-playing titles Persona 1 and 2 are set to receive remakes, according to industry insider みどり (Midori), a well-known Atlus leaker.

Interacting with another user, Midori said: “Yes. P1 and P2 are going to receive remakes too.” Later, to clarify the uncertainty surrounding the nature of the updates, given ongoing discussions about whether they'll be a remake or a remaster, Midori stated: “To be safe, I will call them an updated form for right now.”

The Persona series, a popular subset of the Megami Tensei franchise, is renowned for seamlessly blending traditional role-playing mechanics with simulation game elements.

Persona 1, released in 1996, introduced players to a group of high school students battling various enemies in a parallel universe using their shadow selves, or "Personas".

Persona 2, divided into "Innocent Sin" and "Eternal Punishment," retained the high school setting and Persona concept, but added an innovative rumor system that could transform the game world. The gameplay became more complex and immersive, with multiple endings based on player choices.

Despite Persona 1 being released 28 years ago, the Persona series has continued to maintain its popularity over the years. In 2021, we reported that the series reached a significant milestone with 15 million copies sold worldwide. Last year, Persona 5 and its spin-offs were reported to reach 9 million copies sold. In February this year, "Persona 3 Reload" officially became Atlus's fastest-selling game which sold one million copies within one week.
