After a long wait, Abstract's InstaMAT, considered by many as a promising alternative to Substance 3D tools, has exited early access with a suite of new features for 3D texturing, material creation, and asset development in a unified platform.
We covered much of this in our previous article announcing the InstaMAT 2025 release. With this update, InstaMAT introduces procedural terrain generation and curve-based detailing systems. Enhanced asset texturing now offers layer references, mask filters, and stylized effects, providing artists with greater control and flexibility. A ray-traced viewport delivers real-time feedback, and integration with Polyverse allows for collaborative work and project sharing.
Users with annual revenue under $100,000 can access the Pioneer edition for free among several licensing options. While rental plans exist, a perpetual license option is available as well.
