Intel's Lunar Lake Architecture Reportedly Uses Lion Cove+ P-cores & Xe2 iGPU

Here's what to expect from it.

Intel has a lot of plans for its next-gen client products, there are many lakes in its processors and even more to come, with new details surfacing relatively frequently. For now, the company is planning to launch Meteor Lake this year, Arrow Lake in 2024, and Lunar Lake presumably in 2025 or 2026.

The Lunar Lake (LNL) architecture is expected to consume little power (15W or lower) and bring high performance per watt. Recent reports reveal some more information about this particular Lake.

The Moore’s Law Is Dead team says that these CPUs will have 8 cores with 4 Lion Cove+ P-cores and 4 Skymont E-cores. Their sources also mention that it might not have "working Rentable Units" or hyperthreading. MLID expects to see LNL in the first half of 2025.

Another interesting detail is that the Lunar Lake chips could be the first to have a GPU tile based on the Intel Arc Battlemage with 64 Xe2 execution units and 8 Xe2 cores, according to Bionic_Squash. The previous generations use Arc Alchemist, and although nothing is clear about Battlemage yet, it will probably show a much better performance than its predecessor. 

Again, take all of this with a grain of salt as Lunar Lake is far away from its release, so anything could change. But still, great performance with low power consumption sounds awesome. Let's see what we actually get in a few years.
