When players learned that Starfield on Xbox would be locked at 30 FPS, they were not very happy: nowadays it's expected from AAA games by big studios to provide the greatest experience possible, and these numbers don't fit in this picture.
But is it just that – a number? Well, Bethesda's Head of Publishing Pete Hines seems to think so. In a recent interview with GameStar, he said that the feel of the game is more important than some digits on the screen. He also added that it's better to have lower framerates than get rid of some functions trying to increase them.
"You don't see this number while playing. So it's not about a number, it's about the feeling. It must be liquid and round. And that's it. It's at the level it needs to be to deliver the kind of game at the scale we want."
Hines is sure fans won't think about FPS when they're playing Starfield – this is how smooth and fluid the experience is.

Starfield is going to launch on September 6 for Windows and Xbox Series X|S. We've recently found out that it will have a New Game+ mode with an "exciting twist" that should make players want to start again.
