
Alongside the release of its public roadmap for 2025, where JangaFX revealed ambitious plans for EmberGen and LiquiGen, the developers also teased IlluGen, a new addition to their product lineup. While its mention can be considered an official announcement, details surrounding IlluGen are still vague. The short and mysterious description provided reads:
"Visual effects in games are comprised of a bunch of smoke and mirrors. As artists, we do so many weird things to get the job done, and it is our job to convince the player that what they're seeing isn't just a bunch of graphical hacks and performance optimizations.
If only there were a better way to create the majority of assets used to assemble these illusions."
This isn't the first time JangaFX has brought up IlluGen, though. Earlier, on its Discord server, a user speculated that it could be a "procedural material creation tool," to which JangaFX's Nick Seavert gave an affirmative response:
