It seems like the higher-ups are not very happy with the sales.
Xbox Developer_Direct in January blessed us with Hi-Fi Rush – a surprise drop the day of the announcement, a rhythmic action game developed by Tango Gameworks and published by Bethesda Softworks. It got praised on every possible platform almost immediately. However, it looks like it isn't enough as journalist Jeff Grubb says the game "didn't make the money it needed to make," according to his sources.
In the recent Game Mess Decides podcast where he mentioned this fact, Grubb and GamesBeat's managing editor Mike Minotti discussed the reasons behind it, saying the shadow drop could very well be why Microsoft, Bethesda's parent, is not happy with the money Hi-Fi Rush brought. The price and the fact it was part of the Game Pass could also be the reason.
Overall, talking about Xbox's decisions and experiences, Grubb said that while doesn't think Xbox is doomed, he believes the company "might be due for a sort of cleaning of the house" and some people's careers could be in danger.
