Join Kenshi Developers to Create Next Great Sandbox RPG
Lo-Fi Games is looking for a terrain artist.
Lo-Fi Games
If you haven't played Kenshi, you've missed the lore hidden by Lo-Fi Games in the terrain (and acid rains. And the freedom of the sandbox. And flesh-wearing robots.) But there's something even better waiting for artists: you can help make the prequel one of the best RPGs if you know how to handle Unreal Engine 5.
Lo-Fi Games is looking for a mid- to senior-level terrain artist who will create large-scale terrain using Unreal Engine 5 and in-house tools, contribute during the concept process to guide concept artists, sculpt, model, and texture terrain and assets.
Requirements:
- Strong portfolio demonstrating the world creation, including foliage, rocks, and similar assets
- Experience working with game engines
- Experience working in open-world games with a realistic art style
- Proficiency in modeling and texturing software such as Gaia, SpeedTree, ZBrush, and Substance 3D
- Great communication skills
- Excellent time management
- Being able to adapt to the existing workflow and suggest new ideas if needed
- Capable of giving reliable estimates for completion of the tasks
The studio offers "super flexible working", with hours between 12 PM and 4 PM, 28 days of vacation, a strict company policy of no crunch, private WPA healthcare, mental health support, two 'no questions' extra days off a year, and more.
The no-crunch rule is especially important nowadays, and I can believe Lo-Fi Games here: it took Chris Hunt 12 years of almost solo development to release Kenshi, and the prequel was announced in 2019, so the team is taking time to complete the game, whenever it might happen.
Kenshi is set in a bizarre "swordpunk" world, where some technologies are beyond modern development, but others are stuck in feudal times. There is no goal, no task, no objective; you create your own story in the universe that hates you.
If you want to contribute to the prequel, apply now.
