The latest After Effects release presents workflow improvements and a handful of new 3D features, some of which were originally introduced in the previous beta version.
After Effects now allows you to import 3D model files with embedded animations, fully rigged character motions, or other complex movements, directly into your composition. This is an April's beta feature which made it to the stable release with animation support still being restricted to GLB or GLTF file formats.
In addition to GLB and GLTF, the capability to add 3D model files from your Libraries into your composition is now extended to OBJ file format.

Similar to 3D software, After Effects' new shadow catchers enable accurate simulation of shadows cast by 3D objects onto a 2D background for a realistic look and enhanced visual quality of the compositions.
Additionally, it's now possible to extract depth data from a 3D scene with Advanced 3D renderer and use the depth maps to drive depth-aware effects for convincing realistic composites by simulating real-world camera settings.

Furthermore, After Effects introduced 33 new presents to streamline your creativity and instantly enhance your compositions, from infographics and numbers to transitions and textures. Also, Camera and Light properties can now be accessed and edited from the Properties panel.
