LightWave 2020 Available

NewTek released LightWave 2020, the new version of its toolkit for modeling and animation.

The latest update introduces two new GI engines, support for tonemapping, random walk subsurface scattering, and more. 

OpenVDB toolset has also been improved: Disney’s Partio particles library has been integrated and there are improvements to Layout, Modeler, and the OpenGL viewport.

First, there's a new global illumination system including separate render engines for primary and secondary light bounces. You can now use new Brute Force or Irradiance Cache engines for either primary or secondary bounces. There's also support for tonemapping, and more. 

What is more, the team has also released free iOS and Android apps allowing users to monitor network renders. As for materials, the toolkit supports random walk subsurface scattering. Plus, there are two new hair materials for LightWave’s FiberFX system.
