Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth is a game created by Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio, a video game developer situated within the Sega video game company, that gained recognition for its work on Yakuza 5 and the Like a Dragon series.
The game is an epic emotional drama, which follows the story of two heroes who got brought together "by the hand of fate, or perhaps something more sinister". Ichiban Kasuga is an uncontrollable failer who is already got used to "crawling up from rock bottom", and Kazuma Kiryu is a broken man living his last days.
Ichiban embarks on a journey to Hawaii, driven by the desire to reunite with his long-lost mother, from whom he was separated during his youth. Kiryu, aware of his limited time, is determined to reconcile his past involvement with the Yakuza. As his health declines, he understands the necessity of uniting forces with Ichiban, as it appears that numerous local gangs in Hawaii are also after his mother.
During the latest broadcast, Sega and Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio shared that the game would be launched on January 26, 2024, and would be available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. The standard edition costs $69.90, the deluxe edition – $79.90, and the ultimate one – $94.90.
The developers also released two trailers: one focused on gameplay, and the other on the story. The gameplay video, which exceeds five minutes, offers an in-depth look at the combat system and side missions. This means that in addition to familiar activities like karaoke, players can expect new experiences, such as creating dating profiles.
The story trailer, which lasts over ten minutes, sets the stage for the game's beginning, featuring Ichiban's encounter with Kiryu. Excitingly, it has been revealed that Infinite Wealth will include characters portrayed by Danny Trejo and Daniel Dae Kim, renowned for his role in Lost.
A prominent aspect of the game is that it unfolds in both Japan and Hawaii, making it the most expansive setting in the series' history. Additionally, the game will introduce real-time combat elements in the episodes featuring Kazuma Kiryu.
