JangaFX is preparing for the impending LiquiGen 1.0 release.
Nick Seavert, the Founder and CEO of JangaFX, has offered a sneak peek at the impressive viscosity solver set up for LiquiGen, the studio's real-time liquid simulation software, which is set to debut in the upcoming LiquiGen 1.0 update.
According to Nick, the new version of the application will include a proper high-viscosity solver capable of simulating both coiling and buckling. The team also plans to pair this with higher-quality meshing and implement a few additional tweaks to deliver what he describes as "a pretty insane leap in real-time liquid simulation quality" with version 1.0. Unfortunately, the update has no release date as of yet, with JangaFX's 2025 roadmap only revealing that they plan to ship it later this year.
Besides LiquiGen 1.0, the studio's to-do list for 2025 also includes the launch of IlluGen, a new addition to their product lineup announced with a mysterious description back in January:
"Visual effects in games are comprised of a bunch of smoke and mirrors. As artists, we do so many weird things to get the job done, and it is our job to convince the player that what they're seeing isn't just a bunch of graphical hacks and performance optimizations. If only there were a better way to create the majority of assets used to assemble these illusions."
