Maxon has launched Redshift 3.5.14 as part of its suite's spring release. This version of the renderer brings a new PRG Clear Sky model that allows you to simulate sunsets with Redshift’s improved Sun and Sky. "It provides the most accurate simulation of sky radiance and color, offering rich red sunsets as the sun dips just below the horizon."
Another new feature is the Flakes shader, which generates Voronoi- or dot-shaped flakes at random angles and surface depth and is "great for rendering everything from metallic car paints to glitter-filled superballs".
The latest version also adds a Renderview Backplate so you can import a photographic backplate to adjust the look of renders in the context in which they will be composited.
Redshift for Cinema 4D got Custom Backplates to allow more compositing control. You can choose whether background footage is incorporated into the render or added before and after post effects.
In addition, the Redshift camera is now available in Houdini, "offering simple physical controls to modify exposure, focus distance, motion blur and bokeh."
Redshift 3.5.14 is available for $45/month or $264/year. Check out the full list of changes here and don't forget to join our 80 Level Talent platform and our Telegram channel, follow us on Instagram and Twitter, where we share breakdowns, the latest news, awesome artworks, and more.
