Meta Has Launched Meta House

Meta House is showcasing various mixed reality experiences including installations from emerging VR/AR artists.

Meta has launched Meta House, a space where it will showcase multiple mixed-reality experiences, including installations created by emerging artists. In addition, Meta House will feature live performances of famous rappers and musicians including Doja Cat and GloRilla.

Among the mixed reality experiences that attendants will be able to see are VR art gallery, interactive AR murals, and a VR sculpting workshop. Artists present at the event include the Puerto Rican multidisciplinary artist COVL and the Dutch artist duo YONK.

At Meta House, YONK hosted an immersive VR workshop aimed at showing the event's guests how to use VR for creative expression. The workshop was held on December 1.

Meanwhile, COVL is showcasing their Nuevo Norte project – a virtual world created in collaboration with Meta. For Meta House, the project has become a part of the installation and was extended into an AR mural shown on a display. COVL shared that it was their first experience working with AR and VR as art mediums but noted that they "100% believe the metaverse will become a space for artists" in the future.

Meta House takes place during Miami Art Week and will be available to attend until December 3.

Can we stop pretending that metaverse is something more than a badly executed and overpriced experiment?
