Metaphor: ReFantazio, a Japanese RPG featuring anime style developed by ATLUS' Studio Zero and published by SEGA, was released on October 11 and immediately received critical acclaim. In an interview shortly after the release, Katsura Hashino, the Game Director, shared that he had already started working on the next project.
In a recent interview with Famitsu (translated by Genki), Katsura Hashino answered the question of whether he was considering what to create after Metaphor. The developer said: "Oh, I have already started." He underscored the team's contribution to creating the project: "I don't really think about what to do as an individual. I look at Atlas as a whole and think about what is best for our team to create right now. Firstly, I want the users to be happy, and as a result, I hope the company will be happy as well. That is how I always work."
Hashino continued: "We (Studio Zero) are not going to disband after the release, so no matter what kind of work we create, I hope we can take on new challenges as a team." It is not revealed what the new game would be, but it would not be a sequel to Persona 5, as the developer left his position at P-Studio to participate in forming Studio Zero, the team behind Metaphor.

In the same interview, Katsura Hashino talked about his vision of players' feedback and said that he "tries not to be that conscious of' players' feedback, though he does check them.
Before the release, it was spotted that in the Metaphor: ReFantazio's EULA SEGA warned players that they can't own Metaphor: ReFantazio or any digital content related to it, saying that it grants players "a non-exclusive, non-transferable, limited, fully revocable right and license to install, access and use one copy of the Product."
