Michael Douse Responds to Tim Sweeney Comments About Epic Games Free Store
"This altruistic pro-developer talk doesn't sit well."
Tim Sweeney responded to New Blood's CEO's comments about the Epic Games Store's free games causing a huge spike in sales, saying that Epic and Steam compete for each customer and each sale, and who wins of the two may change, but the constant thing is that gamers and developers win by having more options.
The comments started because, according to the internet, the Bloow West sales increased significantly after the game was free on the Epic Games Store, and for Tim Sweeney, this is an advantage that developers have been using for a while.
Nonetheless, Michael Douse, Larian Publishing Director, made it clear that he disagrees with what Sweeney says about the free store and its advantages.
"Not that they need the money but a % take to Epic could've recouped dev costs + more. Competition is good, and important, but it is difficult to buy the message when there are demonstrable cases of games underperforming as a result of the tactic" he also added in another post.
