"While this will not bring peace to the galaxy, or even your local colony, we assure you all that we are here to fight for all colonies in every way that we can."
Following immense backlash they received over pricing The Outer Worlds 2 at $80, Microsoft and Obsidian Entertainment have reconsidered and announced the game will now cost $70 – the same as Avowed and 10 dollars more than what the original game was priced at launch.
"We have received your SOS via skip drone about the pricing. As an organization devoted to making sure that corporations do not go unfettered, we at the Earth Directorate have worked with [REDACTED] to revise the price of The Outer Worlds 2," reads the official announcement. "While this will not bring peace to the galaxy, or even your local colony, we assure you all that we are here to fight for all colonies in every way that we can."
Funnily enough, before heeding the demand of gamers worldwide, the game's developer and publisher were playing hot potato with one another over who was truly to blame for the mind-boggling $80 price tag, with Game Director Brandon Adler trying to deflect criticism from Obsidian Entertainment by stating the pricing decision came from Obsidian's parent company, Xbox, and not the developer itself.
With the announcement having dropped just minutes ago at the time of writing, it remains to be seen how the gaming community will react to the price being lowered to $70 – a figure some may still consider too high in light of Obsidian's previous release, Avowed, carrying the same price yet receiving mediocre review scores and dismal player numbers.
