Microsoft Reportedly Planning Job Cuts at Xbox

The layoffs are said to be connected to a wider corporate restructuring.

Microsoft plans to have a new wave of job cuts in its Xbox division next week, tied to a broader corporate restructuring.

As stated in a recent report by Bloomberg's Jason Schreier, anonymous sources claim that managers within the mentioned division "are expecting substantial cuts across the entire group." However, it's unclear how many people will be affected, and there haven't been any official comments yet. Schreier also notes that this round of layoffs will be the fourth one at Xbox within the last 18 months, coming after three major waves of cuts last year and the closure of several subsidiaries.

Managers at Microsoft have been briefed about layoffs in Xbox and other parts of Microsoft, says Tom Warren from The Verge. According to the report, the cuts are expected to affect the company's sales organization at the start of a new financial year. Another source claims that Microsoft is reorganizing Xbox distribution in central Europe, which results in Xbox halting activities in some regions.

Last month, it was reported that Microsoft planned to reduce its workforce by 3%, with the cuts unrelated to employee performance. In January, the company also let go of workers in the security, sales, and gaming departments.
