Even one who's been with Microsoft for nearly 15 years was not spared.
While we are still in shock from the non-stop news from tech giant Microsoft, which laid off around 1900 employees from Activision Blizzard & Xbox in January and shut down four studios affecting around 1500 employees in May, it's not over yet.
Several Microsoft employees have taken to social media in the past day to announce their departures. Among them are Angela Visness, a Senior Product Manager at Microsoft, and Cory Ebert, a Technical Program Manager who has been with Microsoft for nearly 15 years. Jessabirdy who has been working for Xbox has also announced her role was "eliminated."
It is unclear whether these layoffs are a continuation from June or the start of a new round. However, we still remember that after the announcement of the studio closures, a Bloomberg insider reported that further cost-cutting measures at Xbox should be anticipated.
Microsoft has yet to make any official comments regarding these new layoffs. Phil Spencer previously blamed the lack of industry growth as the reason behind the extensive layoffs. He also noted that, fundamentally, Xbox is a business that must maintain profitability to meet the expectations of shareholders and executives.
