Markus Alexej Persson, known as Notch, the creator of the Minecraft games, took to Twitter and shared that he launched a new game studio – Bitshift Entertainment. He also mentioned that the team is currently developing their first project, which is described as an old-fashioned roguelike in the first-person perspective, according to the developer.
"The current plan is roguelike (in the old sense: cursed items, ridiculously broken mechanics, and so on) combined with a first-person dungeon crawler, but we'll see where this vague direction takes it," Notch wrote on Twitter.
Notch also shared a screenshot from an early version of the game, which might be codenamed Levers and Chests. Persson mentioned using the Pinky Demon model from Voxel Doom as a temporary placeholder for the enemies and also borrowed textures from the floor, walls, and ceiling.
As of now, few details are known. The exact launch date and platforms for the game remain a mystery.
