If you were looking forward to Pax Dei's release, you might be disappointed. The MMORPG launched in Early Access on June 18 but can only show off Mixed reviews two days later.
Pax Dei was advertised as a social sandbox MMO where you "craft your own stories". Well, crafting is something you can certainly do here but might not want after a while. The game only has 53% positive reviews, other players say that it was just not ready for release, even in Early Access, especially since it costs $40. They note countless grinding, bugs, and a lack of content and innovation.

"So, they basically strech that tiny amount of content as far as they can, to justify the price point," said one reviewer. "The scam gets even worse, once you read that after EA, you will have to pay a monthly fee depending on the size of your plot, to keep playing."
"If you are looking to pay for a second or a third job, you have come to the right place. See you in 10 years," commented another.

To be fair, the developers did say Pax Dei was not a fast-paced game, but I guess not many expected it to be this "relaxed".
As for the business model, the developers say the game's final pricing is not defined yet, "but our overall approach is similar to the classic MMORPGs subscription model.
"After Early Access, Pax Dei will require a one-off initial purchase, which will give access to the game and one or more plot(s) for a limited period of time. This will be followed by a recurring fee for ongoing game access, which will vary based on the number of plots a player wishes to maintain. "
