Naughty Dog Says "Never Say Never" to Uncharted 5

Naughty Dog leads Kurt Margenau and Sean Escayg commented on whether we'll ever see the next part of the franchise.

The Uncharted series got to be in the spotlight again with The Legacy of Thieves Collection launching this week on PS5 and the upcoming movie starring Tom Holland releasing in February. In this regard, the franchise fans might be wondering if Naughty Dog would ever return to the successful series with a new installment.

Commenting on that question in a recent interview with Games Radar, Naughty Dog leads Kurt Margenau and Sean Escayg didn’t give definitive words on the future of the franchise, however, they gave hope to the fans. Shaun Escayg, creative director on Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, shared that the team has a "never say never" approach. "Uncharted is a franchise we love – that the studio loves. I love, and Kurt loves. It's a world we want to see more of. So I can certainly say that," said Escayg.

Although the Naughty Dog veterans haven't said much on that point, rumor has it, the story's reboot or the new game in the series is in development, however, not at the studio. In 2016, Naughty Dog's Neil Druckmann shared that he would love to see what a different studio could achieve in the Uncharted series. He said: "I'd want to play an Uncharted I didn't work on. It'd be a lot of fun. We'd just want to make sure they get the essence of it right."

Currently, the soonest release of the series is Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves which is about to be launched on PS5 and PC. Not long ago, to cheer up the wait, Kurt Margenau and Sean Escayg revealed how the famous Madagascar chase scene came together in a behind-the-scenes video showing an in-depth look at both the technical side and the storyline of the scene.
