NetEase Opens a New Remote-First Studio, Spliced

The team comprises AAA vets who contributed to such titles as GTA, Call of Duty, The Sims, and more.

Chinese gaming giant NetEase announced the launch of a new studio, Spliced, that will join the company's gaming division, NetEase Games.

According to the announcement, Spliced will be a global, remote-first studio comprised of AAA game veterans, including senior alumni who boast experience working on acclaimed franchises such as Grand Theft Auto, Call of Duty, The Sims, and Rocket League. Additionally, the studio employs veterans from tech giants such as Google, Amazon, Snapchat, and Twitch.

The Spliced team is currently working on an "innovative new project that redefines what a game is and how we interact with them."

As reported by GamesIndusty.biz, the studio currently has a team of at least 100 employees and despite being advertised as a worldwide remote studio, has a physical office in Manchester, England to cater to UK-based office and hybrid workers. It also employs fully remote staff in the US, Canada, and other locations.

According to the company's career page, Splice will create games with "realistic scope, timelines, and an emphasis on work-life balance and harmony for all team members."
