Rodrigo de Deus
Rodrigo de Deus, whose lighting breakdowns of Disney and Pixar's Luca and Soul and composition analyses of Netflix's Arcane we've featured before, is launching a course for artists who want to compose with light like a Director of Photography using Unreal Engine 5.
Cinematic Lighting with Unreal Engine is a six-week live course, not pre-recorded, designed to help artists develop a stronger "cinematic eye". It begins with an exploration of foundational concepts, breaking down how mood, scale, and narrative can be conveyed through camera and light. The course then dives into the technical side, teaching Unreal Engine's real-time workflow for film and virtual production. The final weeks guide students in translating theory into practice, creating high-end portfolio scenes while receiving personalized critique.
The course is ideal for VFX, Environment, Technical, and 3D Artists who already have a basic understanding of Unreal Engine 5. Basically, it's for anyone struggling with "flat" scenes or who wants their lighting to feel intentional rather than accidental.
Cinematic Lighting with Unreal Engine begins on February 28th, 2026. Learn more here, subscribe to our Newsletter and join our 80 Level Talent platform, follow us on Twitter, LinkedIn, Telegram, and Instagram, where we share breakdowns, the latest news, awesome artworks, and more.
