QuadSpinner has released Gaea 1.0.29.5, the new version of their terrain design tool.
The latest update is a bugfix and performance release, but the QuadSpinner team is also getting ready to release QuadSpinner 1.2 which will introduce the new Infinity Graph system, new ice and snow nodes, new flow map and cartography map types.
The 1.0.29.x release cycle brought a new rendering system, used for both 2D and 3D rendering, which is also the base on the new 2.5D viewport.
The team has also shared a video with Gaea Lead Developer Dax Pandhi breaking down his technique for creating AAA style hero mountains using QuadSpinner Gaea:
The new viewport features accurate real-world lighting powered by controllable soft shadows, ambient occlusion, and more.
There's a unified popup for atmosphere, water, and terrain settings, support for height and mask gradients for terrains in the viewport, and more.
