New Peek at Horror Game Inspired by X-Files & Twin Peaks

Take a look at the location and visual effects of Silver Pines, an upcoming indie horror metroidvania.

Indie game development team Wych Elm has showcased a new sneak peek at its upcoming 2.5D survival horror metroidvania Silver Pines.

We told you about this game shortly after its first teaser was released, and now the developers have shared a preview of one of the game's locations and shown how they work on the blood splatter effects. One of the game locations will be the Union Apartment Building. In the sneak peek video, the main character stands between the floors in a dark environment with rain and twinkling lights.

As for the visual effects of blood splatter, the developers noted that it was "hard work" and shared that the effect needs to be further improved.

The game follows the story of an FBI agent Red Walker, who tries to uncover the mystery of the small town of Silver Pines. He wakes up in an empty diner without remembering any past events and starts untangling the web of conspiracies, betrayal, and intrigue.

Silver Pines has distinct retro vibes of the 1990s, reminiscent of the X-Files, Twin Peaks, and Alan Wake. The developers underscored the game's vibrant atmosphere as one of its key features along with the detective line: "Atmosphere is the top pillar of this game, there's a lot of puzzle solving in there as well."

The game isn't out yet, and the demo will be "far away," according to the creators.
