Powered by Geometry Nodes, the tool allows you to create and edit buildings in mere seconds.
3D Artist and Blender enthusiast Isak Waltin, a.k.a. Coan, has released Procedural Building Generator 2, a new generator for Blender that acts as a reworked and enhanced yet separate version of the Procedural Building Generator, unveiled by Isak back in 2022.
Powered by Geometry Nodes, PBG 2 can generate buildings based on the input meshes, allowing the user to edit the generated results in real-time. Featuring a diverse set of building styles, including five base styles and four "historic" ones, the tool enables you to drag and drop a preset onto your object. and PBG 2 will instantly generate a building from it, also giving you the ability to edit the building shape using Blender's regular tools.
Moreover, PBG 2 also features experimental support for deforming meshes, meaning you can add cloth simulations, armatures, and more to your buildings. "Just add the 'Preserve state' node group before the deforming modifier," comments the developer.
The author also notes that PBG 2 is a completely different product from Procedural Building Generator and is:
- Easier to use: In PBG 1, importing a template was a bit finicky. Now, you just drag and drop a preset on your object.
- More functional: Support for simulations and different styles on different floors are among the things that weren't possible in PBG 1.
- More adaptive: PBG 2 adapts better to meshes overall.
