Newzoo: Top 10 Companies Made 65% of Global Market Revenues in 2021

The analysts published the top 10 public companies by gaming revenue for 2021 saying that their revenues account for 65% of the global gaming market. Tencent took the No.1 spot generating $32.2 billion during the year.

In a recent Global Games Market Report from Newzoo, the firm has published the top 10 public companies by gaming revenue for 2021 saying that their revenues account for 65% of the global market. The analysts estimate that these companies collectively earned $126 billion last year, a growth of 10.2% from 2020.

The top 10 companies by revenue include Tencent, Sony, Apple, Microsoft, Google, NetEase, Activision Blizzard, Nintendo, EA, and Sea Limited.

In the first place, quite expectedly, was Tencent, which generated $32.2 billion during the year, showing an increase of about 10% compared to the previous year. Newzoo attributed the company's growth to the increase in its live service game offerings.

Here is the list of the top ten companies and their revenues:

1. Tencent – $32.2 billion;
2. Sony – $18.2 billion;
3. Apple – $15.3 billion;
4. Microsoft – $12.9 billion;
5. Google – $11 billion;
6. NetEase – $9.6 billion;
7. Activision Blizzard – $8.1 billion
8. Nintendo – $8.1 billion;
9. Electronic Arts – $6.5 billion;
10. Sea Limited – $4.3 billion.

In general, nine of the ten companies on the list saw year-on-year growth, the only exception is Sony. The company's revenue for 2021, slightly decreased (by 2.3%) compared to 2020.

It is worth noting that Activision Blizzard, which should become part of Microsoft next year, took 7th place in the TOP-10. According to the analysts, if this merger had already happened, Microsoft and Activision Blizzard would have had the second-largest revenue in the industry in 2021.
