The development of Revenant Hill came to an end as a result of two key team members leaving the project due to serious health issues.
Revenant Hill, an indie game from Night in the Woods co-creators Bethany Hockenberry and Scott Benson, was set to be the first project from their new studio – The Glory Society. The game was announced in May, promising an adventure set in 1919, where players would follow the cat protagonist, Twigs, as she faced the challenge of paying rent on her wet log near an abandoned graveyard after being demanded by an "owl from the next hill".
Revenant Hill promised players a unique blend of farming simulation and immersive storytelling. As they would grow crops and build a community, they would also uncover a captivating narrative involving witches, demons, and ghosts. The game was supposed to delve into the challenges faced by towns, factories, forests, and hills, presenting a broader theme of standing up against a malevolent force.

Unfortunately, despite the initial excitement and progress made, Revenant Hill has now been officially canceled. The studio shared the news on social media, citing "serious health issues" affecting several team members as the reason for this difficult decision. They expressed gratitude for the team's dedication and acknowledged the challenges that come with creating complex projects like games.
"Making anything complex poses challenges along the way. Games take a while to make and usually require a good team working together. We've been lucky to have one such good team. Unfortunately, recent serious health issues have necessitated two key members stepping away from the project indefinitely. We are a small team and we each wear multiple hats. This is a loss of several hard-to-replace hats in an environment where all hats are needed. Given the realities of schedules, budgets, and the fraught task of reworking the whole project within those parameters, the team has amicably decided to suspend operations. For all intents and purposes, this is the end of the development of Revenant Hill," shared the creators on Twitter.
It is a disappointment for fans who were eagerly anticipating Revenant Hill, but hopefully, the team will get stronger and we'll hear them soon.
