Nintendo Didn't Credit Original Developers of Donkey Kong Country Returns HD

The credits only include the developer who ported the game to Switch.

Nintendo didn't include the original developers' credits in its remaster Donkey Kong Country Returns HD credits.

Donkey Kong Country Returns HD, set to launch today, is the company's remaster of Retro Studios' 2010 platform game for Nintendo Switch owners. As reported by Nintendo Life, the credits for the reworked title only list the developer Forever Entertainment staff, which ported the original for Nintendo Switch, and don't include the original Retro Studios development team. The credits read, "Based on the work of the original development staff" instead.

Before, Nintendo didn't credit the original developers of another reworked title, Metroid Prime Remastered. Creators of the original Metroid Prime game expressed their dissatisfaction with being omitted from the credits. Retro Studios' former Senior Engineer Zoid Kirsch wrote that he was "let down Metroid Prime's Remaster does not include the full original game credits." Jack Mathews, former Principal Technology Engineer, called it a "travesty" and said that although most of his code was likely replaced, the remaster still retained code from other engineers, which had undergone only minor changes.
