As BioWare gears up for the launch of the highly anticipated fantasy RPG Dragon Age: The Veilguard, they just brought a piece of great news for PC players by announcing that the game will be free from any third-party digital rights management (DRM) systems, such as Denuvo.
Meanwhile, not including DRM means there is no preload period available for PC players, and they can only start to download and play the game after October 31st, 9 AM PDT. For Xbox X/S players, preload is already available, and it will be unlocked for PlayStation 5 players on October 29th at 9 AM PDT.
Despite Denuvo, as well as other third-party DRMs, helping protect games from being pirated and thus economically beneficial for developers and publishers, they've been criticized and disliked by players because of lowering games' performance, including dropping frame rate and increasing loading time. Even though the Denuvo developer denied this claim, some testing results show it is the culprit. Last year, some games initially equipped with Denuvo, such as DOOM Eternal and Striking Distance Studios' sci-fi horror The Callisto Protocol, decided to remove it more than a year after the game's launch.

Michael Gamble, Executive Producer of BioWare, retweeted this announcement about not having Denuvo, saying, "We trust you." This got a bunch of positive comments from rejoicing players praising the developers' wise decision.
