The new GeForce RTX 4090 will reportedly be the first release in the RTX 40 series.
According to the recent rumors, RTX 4090 might be the first release in the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 40 series with the RTX 4080 and RTX 4070 following afterward.
The leaker kopite7kimi, who previously reported that the new RTX series would come out at the beginning of the third quarter of 2022, claims that this time the RTX 4090 will go on sale first, so this will be the first time the company will launch a line of graphics cards starting with the 90th model.
Previously, when NVIDIA was launching the RTX 30 series, the RTX 3090, 3080, and 3070 were all announced at the same time, although the 80th model went on sale first – it was released two weeks after the announcement, followed by the RTX 3090 that was launched two weeks later. The RTX 3070 was the last one to come out.
The RTX 4090 is expected to be built on the AD102 GPU, with 16128 CUDA cores. It will reportedly have 26GB of 24Gbps GDDR6X memory, with a TDP of 450W. Rumors have it that the new graphic card will deliver twice the performance of the previous model, RTX 3090.
It remains to be seen whether the RTX 4090 will indeed go on sale first. Most likely, the difference between the release schedule of the graphic cards will be just a few weeks, and they might again be introduced on the same day. Although it's currently unclear when NVIDIA plans to present the new series.
