What's inside the upcoming Metal-based version of OctaneRender?
Otoy CEO Jules Urbach has recently shared a bunch of preview images of Octane X which is the team's upcoming Metal-based version of OctaneRender for modern Macs and iPad Pros.
The tool will be available for public preview in early 2020. This version was originally announced at Apple’s World Wide Developer Conference last year, and the team describes it as OctaneRender “rebuilt from the ground up in Metal”.
The change of graphics API will effectively make it possible to use Octane in production on Macs once more. Basically, you will be able to use it with the new Mac Pro using AMD GPUs.
