OctaneRender 2027.1 Released in Alpha
The experimental build features a real-time neural viewport, DLSS and FSR up-samplers, AI Light 2.0, and more.
The first alpha of OctaneRender 2027.1, Otoy's GPU production renderer, is now available. The experimental build includes a wide range of in-development features that will be included in the final 2027 release.
The 2027.1 Alpha version key features are:
- Real-time neural viewport
- DLSS & FSR up-samplers
- AI Light 2.0
- Geometry export to USD
- Built-in USD variants and layers
- MaterialX EDF nodes
- Increased UV count support
Real-time neural rendering mode is built on Octane 2026's NRC framework. The mode enables near noise-free interactive rendering while fully preserving Octane's spectral path-tracing quality. The feature works even in complex lighting scenarios and is based on a combination of OTOY's latest research and NVIDIA's DLSS Ray Reconstruction.
The alpha build also brings support for two new up-sampling methods: NVIDIA DLSS4 Super Resolution and AMD FSR3 (on NVIDIA cards only). AI Light 2.0, another new feature, is a hierarchical light-sampling algorithm that builds on Octane's earlier AI Light and traditional power-based sampling by incorporating full spatial and directional information for all emissive primitives.
The geometry exporter node now supports USD file export and can also embed Octane materials directly within the USD file, so the entire scene is preserved and can be fully restored when reimported into Octane.
In the 2027 roadmap, Otoy outlined the main features being actively developed in the next Octane 2027.1 release.
The latest stable OctaneRender release is version 2026.2, shipped in February, bringing a range of improvements and fixes, with a particular focus on enhancing recently added features.
